TCT - Safety and Human Factors Study of Tactical Controller Tool
The Safety and Human Factors Study of Tactical Controller Tool (TCT) is a research project intended to lead to a workable, demonstrable concept, but not to operational implementationof the TCT. Its purpose is to inform the design and development of the tool from the safety point of view. TCT is being developed by EUROCONTROL Research Centre (ERC) to help the tactical controller by identifying potential conflicts, and suggesting a resolution to any identified conflict.
The Safety and Human Factors Study of TCT foresees a systematic and comprehensive identification and assessment of its potential safety benefits and disbenefits, and hence the identification of practical measures to achieve the required level of safety and optimise the safety benefits.
Deep Blue role
Deep Blue was in charge to lead a scenario based evaluation of the Human Factors aspects of the Tactical Controller Tool by means of focus groups.
This activity was carried out through brainstorming and role playing sessions based on the presentation of contextualized storyboards showing the functionality of TCT to a group of experienced Air Traffic Controllers.
