NUP II+ is an extension to NUP II. Whilst the NUP II+ predecessors were looking at understanding the potential benefits with supporting technologies and operational procedures of ADS-B, NUP II+ is focusing on validating a set of applications, based on ADS-B and 4D Trajectory data, in live trials with ambition to reach operational introduction. NUP II+ takes the most developed application from NUP II together with other promising applications worked on in parallel programmes (AFAS, Nordic SWIM, Optimal, Gate to Gate, C-ATM) and brings them into operational validation if they are agreed beneficial from the user/investor point of view.

Deep Blue role

In the context of this project Deep Blue carries out for EUROCONTROL (leading WP360) a coordination role of validation activities within the NUP2+ Application Teams, which consists mainly in reviewing the work performed and updating the guidelines provided along the NUP2+ programme. To provide such a support, the following general tasks will be performed:

• Analyse operational procedures, experimental environment and design of NUP2+ Application teams experiments against requirements to check that scientific objectives have been met.
• Define guidelines for the validation activity:

• Provide Validation Plan template.
• Provide Experimental Plan/Design template.
• Provide Validation Results template.
• Assist each Application Team in producing validation documents:

• Coach Swedish AT for CDM and Green Approach, for ATSA-SURF and for D-MAN.
• Coach Austrian AT for ADS-B NRA, for GA, AMAN/DMAN/CDA and MET
• Organise validation workshops.
