MFF - Mediterranean Free Flight
MFF is a five year-programme co-funded by the European Commission DG TREN and coordinated by ENAV SpA (Italian Company for Air Navigation Services). MFF is a pre-operational programme aimed at defining, testing and validating ASAS applications and procedures within en-route scenarios in Free Flight Airspace (FFAS) and Managed Airspace (MAS) as well as the transition between the two. It intends to provide a technical and operational evaluation of CNS/ATM technologies and applications suitable for the future Mediterranean scenario.
Deep Blue role
Deep Blue has been working in the MFF project since October 2001, being responsible for the following tasks:
- Project management support
- Traffic Samples preparation for RTS1, RTS2 and RTS3
- Human Factors Analysis associated to RTS1, RTS2, RTS3
- Human Factors Analysis associated to Flight Trials
- Project Validation
- Dissemination
- Safety Assessment Activities in collaboration with Eurocontrol
Deep Blue carried out an intensive dissemination activity in MFF developing the following products:
- The MFF web site (www.medff.it )
- "Discovering MFF", a Multi-Media presentation (developed in Macromedia Flash) to broadcast the aims, key activities and early results of the MFF programme. Discovering MFF enables interested persons to rapidly gain an insight into the programme in a dynamic and attractive way. The presentation runs for about 14 minutes and includes a soundtrack with spoken explanations in English. At several points in the presentation there is the opportunity to pause and take optional "side tracks" where more detailed information are available. Discovering MFF was expressly designed to be a modular and "light" application, in order to be easily distributed across internet/intranets and on CD-Rom. Deep Blue designed, developed and produced 100 copies of the CD-Rom, as agreed in the concerning contract. The product is available for consultation on demand (info@dblue.it).
- The MFF newsletter accessible www.medff.it/public/archive/newsletter.asp
- An auto-run video describing the main results of the project. The product is available for consultation on demand (info@dblue.it).
- Brochures.
