The LOOK project was targeted to develop and validate a validation method, integrating different human factors disciplines (cognitive ergonomics, psychology and physiology) to evaluate the effects of ATM systems and their consequences for safety and capacity. Benchmarking of the project was the comparison of two different working environments, marked by the use of Classic Paper Strips and Stripless system.
Deep Blue role
Deep Blue was involved in the whole project and supplied the project team with a team of human factors experts in cognitive activity analysis. Our main task in the project in fact was to evaluate safety and usability of paper strip and stripless environments tested during the RTS. Deep Blue 's final contribution was the reflection on the appropriateness of the methodological integration pursued throughout the project. We also provided results on the comparison of paper strip and stripless environments. But, being LOOK a methodological project, such latter results are more relevant as expression of the methodology applied than in themselves.
