The purpose of this activity carried out for Eurocontrol was to outline and maintain a Validation Strategy and Plan for all the future activities necessary to consolidate the ASPA S&M concept.

This work identified a set of Validation Objectives on the basis of a performed stakeholder analysis, which set the Validation Expectations. Then, this activity defined how the concept could be validated against them, through a co-ordinated and integrated set of validation exercises (e.g. Model Based Simulations, Real Time Simulations, Cockpit simulations). The approach was based on the European Operational Concept Validation methodology (E-OCVM) and considered the implicit and explicit validation objectives already identified and the issues already addressed during the previous experiments and the past and on-going work on similar ATM concepts.
